Atal Tunnel officially recognised as ‘Longest Highway Tunnel above 10,000 feet’ by World Book of Records

  • The World Book (WB) of Records United Kingdom (UK) has officially certified Atal Tunnel as the World’s Longest Highway Tunnel above 10,000 Feet (~3048 Meters) from the Mean Sea Level (MSL).
  • This recognition was given during a ceremony in New Delhi. The award for the same was received by Lieutenant General Rajeev Chaudhry, Director General of Border Roads (DGBR).
  • Constructed by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) connecting Manali, Himachal Pradesh (HP) to the Lahaul-Spiti Valley in HP, this 02 kilometer long tunnel worth Rs 3300 crores.
