  • The Parliament House in New Delhi, also known as Sansad Bhavan, serves as the official venue for the Parliament of India.
  • It accommodates the Lok Sabhaand the Rajya Sabha, which represent the lower and upper houses, respectively, in India’s two-chambered parliament.
  • As part of the Central Vista Redevelopment Project in India, a new parliament building was constructed in New Delhi.
  • On 28th May 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this new building

Revised Guidelines for SPG: Special Force Safeguarding PM to be Led by ADG

  • The security responsibility of the prime minister, currently undertaken by the Special Protection Group (SPG), will now be overseen by an officer of the Indian Police Serviceholding the rank of at least an additional director general (ADG).
  • Junior officers will be appointed on deputation for an initial period of six years

  • In a ceremony held at the Raj Bhawan, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla administered the oath of office to Justice Rao.
  • Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was also present at the event.
  • The proceedings of the oath ceremony were conducted by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, who read out the Warrant of Appointment issued by the President of India in both Hindi and English languages
