  • On the auspicious occasion of the Jagannath Rath Yatra, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated various development works and performed Bhoomipujan in Ahmedabad.
  • Among the inaugurated projects was the CREDAI Garden-People’s Park, a beautiful park constructed by CREDAI with the aim of providing a comfortable and environmentally friendly space for people from all walks of life.

Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP): Creating Employment Opportunities for India’s Youth

  • The Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP)is an ongoing plan scheme initiated by the Government of India to promote entrepreneurship and generate employment opportunities for unemployed youth.
  • Implemented by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), PMEGP aims to assist in the establishment of micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector across the country.
  • The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) serves as the national-level nodal agency, while state offices of KVIC, State Khadi and Village Industries Boards (KVIBs), and District Industries Centers (DICs) act as implementing agencies.
  • Additionally, the Coir Board is responsible for implementing the program in the coir sector.

IOC awards Olympic Order to WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus

  • The International Olympic Committee (IOC)awarded  Tedros Ghebreyesus,the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), with the Olympic Order.
  • This recognition was given to Dr. Tedros for his inspiring efforts in making the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 happen, even amidst the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • The presentation of the Olympic Order took place at the Olympic House and was done by the President of the IOC, Thomas Bach.
