  • Uniform Civil Code in India: The Uniform Civil Code, also known as the UCC, is a proposed law in India to create and execute personal laws of citizens that are applicable to all people regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, or religion.
  • Currently, the religious texts of different communities regulate their personal laws.

Multidisciplinary Education and Research Improvement in Technical Education Project

  • The World Bank has recently given its approval for a substantial loan of USD 255.5 million to India, aiming to improve the quality of technical education in the country.

ASEAN to Hold First-Ever Joint Military Exercise in South China Sea

  • ASEAN, the Southeast Asian bloc, is set to make history by conducting its inaugural joint military exercise in the highly contested South China Sea.
  • The decision was made during a meeting of military commanders from the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Indonesia.
  • The exercise, scheduled for September, will specifically take place in the North Natuna Sea, which is located in the southernmost region of the South China Sea.

  • India and Egypt have taken significant steps to enhance their bilateral cooperation through a strategic partnership agreement.

  • By ensuring immediate arrests, robust evidence collection, meticulous investigations and effective representation in courts, the authorities seek to minimize the time taken for criminals to face justice.

Hasarius Mumbai

  • Researchers in Mumbai have made an exciting discovery in the field of arachnology. A new spider species, Hasarius mumbai, has been documented and named after the city where it was found.
  • The spider was spotted at the Bombay Natural History Society’s conservation education centre in Goregaon East. This finding adds to the growing knowledge of spider diversity in the region.

  • The guidelines aim to empower ports to address local community issues more efficiently and collaboratively.

  • Priya A S,a talented writer, has been honored with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2023in the Malayalam language for her novel “Perumazhayathe Kunjithalukal” (The Children Who Never Withered). 
  • This recognition adds to her previous achievement of winning the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Children’s Literature in 2020 for the same novel.
